Fly Agaric Amanita muscaria mushroom |
The Amanita muscaria is one of the most known mushrooms, not for being edible though. Fly Agaric or Fly amanita is a psychedelic shroom that causes hallucinations. It is also toxic but death by ingesting amanita muscaria is rare. In Siberia, amanita was used for shamanic rituals to achieve the trance state. Anthropological theories say the amanita muscaria was the soma Vedic ritual drink mentioned in the Rig Veda. Some even link the red white pointed mushroom with the flying reindeers at Santa's sleigh.
